Many businesses realise that operating sustainably sells products and services as well as saving money and increasing efficiency. Thus, with rising costs and resource scarcity plus consumers being more aware of social and environmental issues they know they can enhance their commercial success by regularly reviewing and publicising their environmental and social sustainability. However it can be difficult to tell the difference between those that only state their credentials and those that are really committed to making a difference. We work with hundreds of companies to help them improve their sustainability.
In July 2013, we launched a new Sustainability CharterMark that is only available to enterprises that are committed to sustainable development and that have demonstrated they have developed their practices. The CharterMark (pictured), called “Working towards a Sustainable Future with business sense”, is now awarded by The Sustainability Lab and includes the year that the business undertook their improvements. The business is eligible to display the CharterMark on their marketing materials, demonstrating their business commitment to sustainable practice. Each business who has gained our highly regarded CharterMark has completed at least two positive improvements of their management of environmental and equal opportunities issues.
